Picking up points is always a good thing. Getting the three points is better. I keep thinking that this team is one win away from exploding on team, but that’s the American in me. I should know following football as much as I do, the scoreline shouldn’t matter, as long as the side picks up the three required points.

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish:

“We may not be the prettiest side in the world to watch but we have perseverance, resilience and a never-say-die attitude.

“It was important tactically we played the way we did this because Doncaster are a formidable side.

“We coped with them very well – we’ve given ourselves every chance.”
